STRATFORD COLLAPSE.

VICTORIA PARK MATCH. Hawera Bowlers Achieve Phenomenal Averages. The Stratford batsmen failed to come to light in both innings of the senior B match at Victoria Park on Saturday, which resulted in an easy win for Hawera Old Boys by 184 runs to 83. Hawera batted first, but were dismissed for a modest 72, Aldridge taking five wickets for 35 and Cuff three for 11. Setting out to bat with a good chance of establishing a useful lead Stratford crumpled before the bowling of Kelpe, who got Cuff l.b.w. in his first over and bowled Aldridge in his second, neither batsman scoring. Tocker, who opened with Cuff stayed longer and made nine before he was bowled by Merrin. After that Kelpe took all the wickets except one and the highest score registered was that of Stallard, who was bowled for six. His average was eight for 15 for.the innings. Hawera’s second tannings yielded 111, chiefly due to the performances of Dowdle, who compiled a brilliant 40, including five fours and a six and Gray, who made 29. The Stratford bowler, Elements, struck form in this innings and took five wickets for 28 runs. Faced with an almost impossible second innings task of making 116 runs to win Stratford did little better than in the first innings and were dismissed for 44'. Spavin, who bowled only one over, took the last three wickets, in a hat trick, bowling Tocker, who with 11 was top scorer, and Maile and Clements. Kelpe was less dangerous in this innings but he took a wicket in the' second of his two overs.
