BELGIUM’S DEFENCE.

Assurances To Be Given By Germany. Press Association—Copyright. London, Jan. 21. The Daily Telegraph’s Paris correspondent reports that it is understood that Herr Hitler will shortly declare Germany’s readiness to give Belgium assurances, similar to those already given her by Britain and France, in which Germany will guarantee to defend Belgian independence and its territorial integrity against attack from west or south. Germany is apparently aiming at reconstituting Belgium’s former neutrality and making it more difficult for her to conclude defensive arrangements with Britain and France.
