After nearly 12 hours’ discussion of the conditions arising from the recent stay-in strike of Auckland freezing workers a special conference at Parliament House to-day failed to reach an agreement and it was decided al. a late hour to adjourn until to-morrow morning in order to receive a report from a special committee sit up to consider the final > points. i Some 50 delegates representing all employers and workers in the industry throughout New Zealand attended. The Government was represented by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. 11. T. Armstrong, and the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin. The conference opened at 10 a.m. and was continued throughout the day and evening, there being a protracted discussion of contentious questions of labourers’ wages in freezing works and the num- : ber of operatives on the chain sys- ! tern.
