ANTI-FRENCH MOVE
ITALY AND GERMANY.
TO ISOLATE FRANCE Germany Wants Reconciliation with Russia. Press Association—Copyright. Received 12.30 p.m. London, January 19. The Paris correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that it is believed in Paris, following General Goering’s visit to Rome, that Italy and Germany may make a concerted move to isolate France from her Allies in East and Central Europe. It is suspected that their anti-Com-munist crusade is only a cloak from such a manoeuvre, and it is feared that instead of prosecuting her antiSoviet campaign Germany will seize the opportunity to obtain some form of reconciliation with Russia in order to give her freedom of action against the less powerful States. The German General Staff and the German Heavy Industry have always regretted the lapsing of the Treaty of Rapallo, which placed the vast Soviet f resources of raw materials at Germany’s disposal and gave her an important export market.
