CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN

Japanese Regulation Now Applies Only To Wool. During the time that Japan and Australia were at loggerheads over trade questions, the Japanese were so determined that the boycott on Australian goods should be complete that goods exported to Japan from New Zealand had to be accompanied by a certificate of origin, as a guarantee that they were not Australian products shipped through the Dominion. The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce has now been advised by the honorary consul for Japan, in Wellington (Mr N. S. Falla) that following a satisfactory settlement of the dispute between Australia and New Zealand, it is no longer necessary for the consigners of certain articles of New Zealand produce to show a certificate of origin. Mr Falla points out, however, that a licensing system still applies bo imports of wool from Australia, so that it will still be. necessary for shipments of wool from New Zealand to Japan to be accompanied by certificates of origin.
