IN SEARCH OF THRILLS.
American Artist Comes To New Zealand.
Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, To-day
In search of fishing thrills, Mr P. S. Ross, an American artist, arrived in Wellington yesterday in the Remuera from London. Mr Ross intends to spend two months in New Zealand fishing for trout at Taupo and trying his hand at catching swordfish at the Bay of Islands. He will then travel to India for big game hunting. Mr Ross said Mr Zane Grey's record catch in New Zealand in 1926 created a good deal of interest in America. Most of the big game fishing there was off the New Jersey coast of Nova Scotia for tuna, w’hich ran up to 8001 b. Tuna did not leap like swordfish, but they were very heavy pullers. Trout fishing was best in Montana or Canada, and practically all the remainder was private water.
Mr Ross added that while he was In the Dominion he might do some sketches in water-colcur. A fairly
live interest was inker in painting in America, but there was not much money in it. The interest, however, appeared to be growing.
