TESTING OF BOWLS.
The respective merits of the green and table tests is a perennial subject of discussion amongst bowlers In New Zealand the official test is I the green test. In Australia the test* hitherto has been the table test but there are signs that a variation in | the mode of testing in the Commonwealth may be made, at any rate so l far as the country districts are concerned. A sub-committee of the New South Wales Bowling Association ap pointed to inquire into the matter has recently presented its report. Mr John Scott, president, Australian Bowling Council (who is well known in the Dominion), the report stated, had expressed the opinion that green tests were not permitted by his council, which recognised only table tests. He was not unfavourable towards the New Zealand, green test, but it could only operate in Australia if permitted by his council. He therefore recommended that the New South Wales Association should make representations to other State associations to permit either a table or a green test.
