SATURDAY HALFHOLIDAY.
“Economus” Replies to Mr. W. P. Kirkwood. Sir, —1 note that Mr. W. P. Kirkwood has endeavoured to strengthen his very weak case by making capital out of the fact that I have not signed my name to my letter to you on the question of the Stratford half-holiday. I would point out to him that my object in writing was to remind your raeders of the true position of affairs and not to indulge in a personal wrangle with Mr. Kirkwood or anybody else. Were I called upon to criticise him personally in any way, I would not hesitate to sign, my name. If Mr. Kirkwood is genuinely interested in the question and can find fault, with my reasoning, let him do so in an impersonal and sensible manner. —I am, etc., ECONOMUS. 18/1/1937.
