MOTOR VEHICLES
Dominion Registrations A Record. Registrations of motor vehicles throughout New Zealand reached re cord figures for the period from .lune 1 to December .31. At the lav ter date the total number registered was 240,233 —an increase of 24,75$ over the previous corresponding term, and an increase of 11.49 pei cent. Increases are shown in the registration of all classes of vehicles except motor-cycles, where there is a decrease of 45 for the whole of the Dominion. This may be due to the comparatively low cost of light cars, or to the number of used cars available at low prices. The growing popularity of a motor camping holiday is reflected in the registrations of trailers, which reach a total of 4580, an increase of 1080. Figures for the whole of New Zea land are as follows, with North Is land mentioned first, then South Is land, total and increase: Cars: 106,265, 55,571, 161,836 18,348; trucks: 28,949, 14,205, 43,151 6,4'55; other vehicles: 7,859, 5,037, 12,896, ; motor-cycles: 13,923, 8,424, 22,347, 45x; trailers: , 4,580, 1,080. x Indicates a decrease.
