THE PUBLIC PAYS.
! Ultimate Outcome Of Present j Strike. ! “It is time that the general public | realised that whatever concessions, in the 'shape of shorter working * hours or higher pay, are granted to these men who are in the trouble at the freezing works, those concessions will not cost cither the freezing companies or the shipping companies one penny piece,” remarked a man prominent in the export industry. “Any concessions that mean increased costs will eventually be handed on in the form of increased prices, to those unfortunates who are either not in unions or who, from the nature of their employment, cannot go on strike. We really do not mind raying the freezing workers £lO a week. We can always get it back, because we do not have to listen to the public’s squeal about the increased cost of living.”
