Nominations Being Received
For Races.
Although entries for the Sanders Cup yacht races, which begin at Lyttelton on February 4, do not close until January 24, itj is anticipated that boats from Auckland, Wellington, Otago and Southland will attempt to lift the trophy from, Canterbury. Southland has already notified Mr H. W. Beanland, secretary of the Canterbury Sailing and Power Boat Association, that Rawene, with R. P. Goss as skipper, will be com-
peting. Wellington has given notice that Lavina will be competing. The crew will be Messrs Coleman (skipper), Nolan, Sandford and Williams. Mr George Tanner will b e the manager, and with Mr Clive Highet will be a delegate to the Sanders Cup conference.
While the boats have to be entered by January 24, the crews do not have to be announced until 24 hours before the first race, on February 4. Britannia Cup Race.
Mr Beanland said on Monday that the New Zealand Royal Yacht Squadron, Auckland, had nominated the 18-footer Manu for the Britannia Cup race on February 7. As well as the cup race there are two events on the day of the Lyttelton regatta, February 6, for M class yachts. It is expected that two 18-footers from the West Coast will compete in. these as well as the Auckland and local boats.
