A pretty 17-year-old girl told the Bench at Middlesex sessions, (England), that she had accompanied her young man—two years older—on a burglary so that they could obtain

money to get married. The couple—Nora Stephens, a factory hand, of Muswell Hill, and Frederick William Wiles, an engineer—pleaded guilty to Breaking into a refreshment pavilion near Alexandra Palace and stealing a quantity of spirits. They had never been in trouble before and were placed on probation for two years. Wiles said that the girl did not want to have anything to do with it.
