NEW ARCHITECTURE

INTEREST IN DESIGN Spanish Type of Modern Bungalow. Among all th e houses in Stratford two attract particular attention Iby reason of their uncommon design. The architecture is commonly referred to as the Spanish bungalow type and until Mr W. Shaw erected a dwelling in Percy Avenue a short while ago it was not represented in the town . Nov;, there is another Spanish bungalow, the location being on the corner of Orlando and Celia Streets. The owner and occupier is Mr W. H. Wright, who was first interested in the type of dwelling by an illustration in an American magazine. With some modifications the design was adopted. Th e finished dwelling is self-contain-

ed and has no waste room in the way of passages or hallways. An unusual feature is that the garage Is also un- \ der the one roof. The building con- I tains five living rooms and is constructed of konka board and heart rimu, the exterior being finished in. plaster. With a different scheme for each room the Interior is most attractive.

Mr Wright informed a “Central Press’’ reporter that the cost was slightly dearer than for the ordinary type of bungalow.
