Television Noises ‘Wobble’
CONTORTIONS AT FIRST 8.8. U. BROADCAST First regular television broadcast from Alexandra Palace, London, was not an unqualified success. Both during the programme and at the end the announcer apologised technical faults. The result was that in the early part □ f the programme there was a geat deal of distortion of the pictures. There was, however, a great improvement towards the end of the hour’s boadcast. The programme opened and closed with news films. One saw aeroplanes of strange proportions and shape; and people whose noses "wobbled” alarmingly, and whose movements appeared to suggest that they were contortionists. The final film, however, was perfectly clear.
