Large Increase In Fines During 1936. There was a slight decline in the number of criminal cases heard in the Stratford Magistrate's Court in 1936 as compared with the previous year’s figures. Other figures also showed little variation with the exception of the amount of fines collected, an Increase of nearly £2OO being recorded. The total figure® tor 1936 with the 1935 figures shown in parentheses are:— Number of criminal cases 192 (213), plaints entered 196 (206), amount sued for £2162 (£2296), finee collected £297 (£106). The figures for the quarter ended December 31, 1936. with the statistics for the corresponding quarter of 1935 are as fallows:— Total number of sittings during y.. quarter, civil 7 (83, criminal 11 (14), plaints entered 38 (63), amount sued for £365 (£827), summonses and other processes served by bailiffs 54 (74), judgment summonses issued 12 (11), criminal cases against males 19 (28), against females 1 (0). Children’s Court cases, males 8 (7). females 0 (0), fees and fines collected £lOl (£B7).
