MUNICIPAL BATHS. It has not yet been decided when tenders will be called for construction of the municipal baths. In the meantime the authorities are in close contact with the architect in connection. with he plans and specifications. STRATFORD BOWLER IN FORM. A. Dickinson, an Avon Bowling Club mem'ber, has qualified for post section play with two Lives, at the New Zealand bowling tournament at Wellington. The total of 280 entrants were reduced to 77 after the qualifying rounds, and of these only 13, €«ach with the possible of five wins, qualified with two lives, 49 with four wins and 15 with three wins qualified with one life. STRATFORD EUCHRE. There was an excellent attendance at the weekly euchre party and dance at the Foresters’ Hall on Saturday night. Mrs Gray won the first prize for ladies’ euchre, Mrs Cummins the second prize. The ladies’ consolation prize was won by Mrs Wright and the ladies’ special prize by Miss Tunbridge. Mr F. Adda-m won the men’s lirsit prize for euchre, Mr Ans com be second prize, and Messrs H. Hatcher and D. Sheppard won the consolation and special prizes respectively. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr and Mrs C. Reid.
CAMPHOR IN DEMAND. Within the last few days there has been an extraordinary demand for camphor in Stratford, and the stocks of one large firm were completely sold out. Many people believe in it as a protection against Infection from disease, and it seems that the prevalence of infantile paralysis is the cause of the large sal s. LESS PASSENGER TRAFFIC. The number of rail passengers from the Stratford station for the week endtd January 2 was 1038, a decline of about ten per cent, as compared with the corres l ponding period of last year. This is attributed to the few children travelling on account, of the infantile paralysis epidemic. The rest of the traffic was normal.
