TAUPO FISHING.
Reply To Complaint By Visitor. Press Association —Copyright. Palmerston North, December 18. Criticism by Dr. J. A. Mathers, of Dunkeld, Perthshire , of trolling fish in Lake reported in Thursday’s Dominion, was replied to by a prominent fisherman to-night. He stated that the dead fish which Dr) Matters picked up were “slabs,” which were poor-conditioned or spent fish. They were caught either by trolling or fly, and were killed by experienced anglers in preference to throwing them back alive, because to take the latter course would leave these poor types free to breed more of their inferior kind.
