War with Japanese Demanded by Rebel Chinese.

Nanking, December 16. jßarshal Chang Hseuh-liang to-day broadcast a demand for an immediate expedition against Japanese forces in North China. “The only course left to China in the international sphere is co-operation with Russia,” he said. “As long- as Marshal Chiang Kai-shek is opposed to these demands 1 will detain him at Sianfu, but 1 personally guarantee his satei.y.” The majority of the Government supporteis, however, have decided to abandon negotiations and have ordered the Minister of' War to lead a punitive expedition of 17 divisions, accompanied by aeroplanes and artillery.

Six Months’ Gaol Sentence For Bigamist.
Press Association —Copyright. Auckland, December 16. On a charge of bigamy, Sydney' Alfred Gore, farm labourer, and formerly a ship’s steward, aged 40, appeared for sentence before Mr Justice Fair this morning. The lower court, evidence showed that, in 1933 a friendship sprang up aboard the Rangitane between Gore and a widowed nurse returning from England. They were married the following year and lived together in Auckland for two years. Gore already had a wife whom he married in England in 1.920. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
