Will Not Give Up Until Name Cleared. Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, Last Night. In a letter to a newspaper Mrs M. .M. ,Freer says: “Several statements have appeared in New Zealand papers to the effect that some definite legal action would be commenced byme in New Zealand on Friday. I know nothing about such contemplated action. My case is being considered by my legal advisers here, who are in communication with the legal men in Australia who took action on my behalf prior to my leaving for Sydney by’ the Awatea. “That action was taken by them on their own initiative, arising out of their own feelings at the grave in justice done to me and at the misuse to which the immigration laws oi , Australia have been put. At the moment; so far as I know, legal action is not in immediate contemplation but that does not mean that I - tun uiot-‘persevering with’ the fight.
‘‘lt is not my ,intention .to return to my children' in England with the brand put upon me by Mr Patterson. Before I return to England I intend to clear my name in Australia. lam prepared to appear before any tribunal there, including the Cabinet of 'which Mr Patterson is himself a member. After hearing me they’ can make what inquiries they like and I am prepared to abide by their decision. If after hearing me they are dissatisfied I would be prepared to leave Australia.”
