Forty-one persons in the United States had million dollar incomes in 1935, compared with 33 in 1934, 20 in 1932 and 513 in 1929. The 41 averaged 1,800,000 dollars each, on which they paid an average of 1,010,000 dollars in .taxes. The entire income returns for 1935 total 14,056,000,01)0 (£2,931,200,000), on which £130,800,000 was paid in taxes, representing a 29.1 per cent, increase over the figures for 1934.
