STRATFORD VICTORY

VICTORIA PARK MATCH

Manaia Tail Collapses In Close Game. Manaia Tail Collapses in loose game. . Taking first knock against Manaia at Victoria Park on Saturday Stratford A ran up a score of 161 and dismissed the visitors for 137.

Manaia opened disastrously', Sutton and Andrews returning to the pavilion with only four runs made. Christie, Walker and Eden, who followed, stopped the rot and a 41 by Walker and a 52 by Eden made Manaia’s chances appear fairly good. The tail proved a long one, however, and totally without sting, the last six batsmen being dismissed (0, 4,4, 0, 2,1). Gray and Kivell gave Stratford a solid start in the Stratford innings. McKenzie went cheaply, but Adlam and Beere staged a sparkling partnership, producing 54 in good time. V. Gray, who went in sixth wicket, was in form, and was still at the crease with 31 to his credit, when the tenth wicket fell. The batsmen who followed were dismissed fairly easily with .the exception of the last man, Baskin, who contributed a useful 10 before he was dismissed. Details are:
