HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER.

Motorist Fined For Intoxication. Press Association—Copyright. Carterton, To-day. A man named Percival Roy Doney, before Justices of the Peace yesterday, provided the first hit-and-run case in Carterton. He was driving a car on Sunday night which crashed into an empty car standing at the roadside under a street light and drove on without ascertaining the damage done. Fortunately there were no occupants in the car. The police were’at once adVised and set out after Doney. A passenger in Doney’s car, Malcolm Page, sustained a severely cut nose, for which medical aid was necessary. When Doney stopped to go to the doctor, the police caught him. Page was sent to the Greytown hospital. Doney was charged in Court with being intoxicated in charge of a car. He pleaded guilty and was fined £25, his license being cancelled till May 31. In another Carterton accident yesterday, a truck driven by Henry H. Phelps ran straight into a small car driven by Henry R. Crawley as it emerged from a side street. Crawley sustained a broken collarbone and was admitted to a private hospital. The car was very severely damaged.

Rain and Wind for Proclamation at Windsor.

Nevertheless, the ceremony was not hurried but was carried out according to tradition with processions through the street. Queen Mary',, the Duke, and Duchess of Gloucester, the Princess Royal and the Earl and Countess of Athlone also attended His Majesty's . luncheon.
