Lord Brownlow Brings Messages From Cannes.
Press Association —Copyright. (Received 11.30 a.in. To-day). London, December 14. King George conferred the Order of the Garter on Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of his birthday. It is officially stated that Queen Elizabeth is distinctly better. She attended a small luncheon party at 145 Piccadilly to celebrate the King’s birthday'. An official statement frojp Duke of Windsor says: “I am remaining at Engesfeld until after Christmas. I hope I shall be accorded the same consideration and privacy as on previous visits.” Lord Brownlow has arrived at Engesfeld and it is understood that he brought messages from Mrs Simpson. A message from Cannes states that journalists admitted .to 'the Villa Louvies saw Mrs Simpson walking in the grounds, disproving the rumours that she had left the Rivera. She declined 'to make a statement and appeared less tired. 1
