With the assumption of the Duke of York to the Throne Princess Elizabeth becomes Heiress Presumptive, with her younger sister Princess Margaret Rose next in order . If in .the future ithe new King should have a son he would succeed in. priority over the two Princesses." Next in order are the Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and his infant son, Prince George; the Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood, and her sons, Viscount Lascelles and the Hon. Gerald Lascelles. The late King George’s two brothers having died without issue, the line of succession is continued to the two daughters .of his eldest, sister, the late Princess Louise, Duchess of Fife. These are Princess Arthur of Connaught and Lady Mary Carnegie, and the latter’s son, the Master of Carnegie, follows his mother. From King George’s youngest sister, Queen Maud of Norway, the line passes on to her three children and thence to the Saxe-Coburg, Connaught, and Albany branches of the family of Queen Victoria.
