PLUNKET SOCIETY.

£56 Raised by Stratford Branch. An amount of £56 had been collected as the result of Plunket Week and the Show cqmpetition, the secretary, Mrs. N. D. Moss, reported to the mouthy meeting of the Stratford branch of the Plunket Society. Mrs. Hugo welcomed Mrs. Lindnp as a new member of the committee and farewelled Mrs. D. Morris and Airs. Townley, two keen members of the committee, who are leaving the district. Mrs. R. Masters, delegate to the annual conference of the society at Christchurch last month, gave an in-

teresting account of the conference. The society strongly supported the hospital board in its endeavour to hav ( e all herds supplying milk for human consumption tested for tuberculosis. The nurse’s report for November stated: Number of children under five years still under supervision, 132; .under two years, 290; visits to homes, Stratford, 110, Eltham 57, total 167; visits to rooms, adults 181, babies 173, children 46, total 400; new cases -for the month, Stratford 11, Eltham 14. Votes of of thanks were passed to Peggy Page, Ltd., Mrs. Rutherfurd, Mr. Stevens, Mr. T. Smith, Mr. Furrie and the school children and all who helped the society during Plunket week. The competitions will be .decided to-mrrow. ' The following donations were acknowledged by the committee: Mr. Lucas £2 2s, Mr. R. Masters £1 Is, Mrs. Marfell £l, Mesdames Jolly, Summers, Cowley, Thomas, Davis, Ewens, Nairn, Harrison, Gaw, Shaw, Manning, ss. each. There were present: Mesdames Hugo (in the chair), E. S. Rutherfurd, T. Urwin, Masters, O’Neill, Townley, F. W. Lindup, and N. H. Moss (hon. secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames Campbell, Fredric ami; Strachan.
