STRATFORD INCIDENT. Sensational Element Believed Exaggerated.

Sensational stories late in September concerning the discovery of a spark-plug suspended in the petrol tank of a lorry at Stratford are ; now believed to have been greatly exaggerated. A. Dick, employed by Messrs. Boon Bros., timber merchants, reported the discovery one morning of a spark plug suspended in the petrol tank of a lorry he habitually drove. Next day Dick received a printed letter stating: “A Dick, R.I.P. If at first we don’t succeed, try, try again.” Many people took the incidents seriously and were greatly alarmed. Now .though the police are reticent, it is believed that the fears were groundless. i
