Walter Miller Sentenced To Gaol.
Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, To-day. Commenting that the prisoner’s conduct showed not only recklessness but also callous recklessness, Chief Justice Sir Michael Myers sentenced to six weeks’ imprisonment Walter Edward Miller, wrestling manager, who pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to recklessly driving a motor-car at Porirua on November .6, and injuring James Leacock, a cyclist. He cancelled Millers' driving licence, and prevented him from obtaining another licence for two years after its expiration. Sir Michael Myers said that, in his opinjon, “hit-and-run” motorists deserved little consideration. It was fortunate for Miller that the injuries to Leacock were not likely to have permanent ill effects.
