DRIVER IN COURT V Sequel To Collision At Stratford. For driving a car with defective brakes, Scott, Stratford, was fined £/l/10/- and 10/> costs. by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Stratford Court to-day. Constable W. Hughes gave evidence that he had attended a collision at Pembroke Road on October 30^-Scott, driving an old model car, had run into a youth on a cycle. He had examined the brakes on defendant’s car and had found that the hand brake was in good order but that the foot-brake was absolutely useless and could neither stop the car nor hold it on a grade. Mr. Woodward: Was the accident caused by the defectiveness of the . ■4 brake? Witness: No. It was the result of negligence on the part of the cyclist. Scott did not appear in court.
