UNIQUE ACCIDENT RESULTS IN TRAGEDY.

As the result of being struck by a full motorcase blown off a lorry crossing the Hutt pipe bridge, Robert Ritchie, of Petone, labourer, was killed this morning. The lorry, belonging to Barton Ginger, was proceeding to the Ford works and when passing Ritchie was struck by an exceptionally heavy gust and two cases were blown off, one of which pinned Ritchie’s head to the footpath. Death must! have been instantaneous. The bridge is fully exposed to the wind and when there is a gale, traffic is severely buffeted. Deceased was married, with one child, and worked at the Hutt railway workshops.
