MUNITIONS FOR SPAIN
DOMINIONS’ POSITION. Not Covered By British Shipping Bill. ■ Press Association—Copyright. Received .11.30 a.m. To-day. London, November 30. The Dominions Secretary, Mr. Malcolm MacDonald, in the House of ! Commons, said the Shipping Bill banning the conveyance of munitions to I Spain did not apply to the Dominions, and therefore no question arose of consultation with the Dominion Governments, which, however, had been informed of the British intention to j legislate. I He was not aware whether any of the Dominions contemplated similar ’ action. Sir Percy Harris suggested that the I embargo would be ineffective unless i the Dominions legislated, but Mr. I MacDonald replied that the ' whole ’ matter was being considered in conI saltation at the Foreign Office.” I j ‘think the question is largely' academic,” he said. “There are very few Dominions with registered vessels of the type concerned, but if there is ! evidence that the Dominions’ ships I are likely to be involved, we will ceri j tainly have to consider the matter furj then. But on the present evidence I i do not think action is necessary.”
