Doug. Fairbanks Could Have Done It.

The sight of a man suddenly alighting from the carriage of a fast moving train and being hurtled along the platform caused a severe shock to the officials on the Midhirst station on Sunday. The incident occurred when the New Plymouth excursion train, which did not stop at Midhirst, passed, through the station. It is understood that the man who had boarded the train at Hawera, had been sold a ticket to Midhirst. Apparently he had arranged to meet his fiancee there, and she was waiting for him on the platform. He had reckoned without the speed of the train, however, and by the time he regained consciousness he was on his way back to Hawera, badly shaken, but no.t critically injured.
