IMPROVING GRADUALLY

Wellington, To-day. An intense depression has remained centred near Chatham Island while pressure has been rising over New Zealand with the approach of an aiti-cyclone from the Tasman Sea. The forecast is for strong southwesterly winds, of gale force at places, but moderating. The weather will be cold and changeable with showers, but gradually improving. Seas rough to high.
