COMPENSATION TO WIDOW. I axi -driver’s Negligence In Motor Accident. * Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, Last Night. The evidence having been completed yesterday afternoon in a case in the Su--1 preme Court in which Dorothy Collin widow, Wellington, claimed £2500 (general damages from Percy Withers, I taxi proprietor, Wellington, for the death of her husband in an accident, the jury ! to-day before being addressed by counsel visited the scene of the mishap. The plaintiff's husband. Frederick Collin, received fatal injuries when his bicycle collided with a taxi driven by Oswald Alexander Lochore. an employee of Withers. Negligence on the part of Lochore was alleged by Mrs. Collin, but this was denied by the defence. After retiring the jury found that the taxi driver failed to keep a proper lookout and awarded Mrs. Collin £l7OO damages. Mr. Justice Reed, who presided, on the application of counsel granted defendant 14 days in which to apply for a new trial.
