A MUCH-TRAVELLED DEPORTEE.
REMARKABLE CASE AT SYDNEY
Sycfney, June 2. A remarkable case is that of a miner named Paul Freeman, who, without reasons being given, was placed on board, the steamer Sonoma by the military authorities for deportation to America. He was refused admission to America. Freeman was then carried to San Francisco and back three times.
The Sonoma is now in Sydney, and he has started a hunger strike, with the object of compelling the authorities to grant him a trial. He has fasted for several days and is very weak. Strong pressure is being brought to bear on the Federal authorities to deal with the case.
