This convenient hall was opened on December 10, 1861, with a tea meeting. Wo have seldom seen so large an assemblage in Nelson—about 400 persons partook of an excellent tea. The tables cleared away,» Mr. A. Saunders, M.H.E., was unanimously called to the chair. Mr. R. Burn engaged in prayer. The speakers, Messrs. Crisp, Hill, Cresswell, Austin, Gardener, Gilbert and R. Burn, gave interesting addresses. The speeches were interspersed with the singing of some temperance hymns —a good feature in the evening's entertainment A vote of thanks was given to the singers afid to the Chairman, and the meeting closed a little after ten.

Fifty-three signed the pledge—ls or 16 adults, and the remainder were youths.

We have seldom attended so interesting a meeting, or one thai.has gone off so well; therefore we promise our readers in a futuie issue to give an account of the affair in detail-
