The brigantine signalled in the bay yesterday, was the Heron, from Taranaki, supposed to be gone for a cargo of potatoes at Motueka, at which place she now lays at anchor. [ The Daphne, taken up by the War Department, left Woolwich on August 22, with detachments of the Royal Artillery and other corps for New Zealand. Her Majesty's sloop, Elk, with troops from Australia, was paid off at Chatham on August 22. During the voyage home, near the entrance of the River Plate, the ship was caught in a tremendous typhoon, in which the vessel suffered severely. Messrs. Willis and Chambers, of the " White Star" Line have two large clippers on the berth at Liverpool —the Blue Jacket and Morning Light. The first named will be despatched to Melbourne and Auckland on the 20th September, and the latter on the 20th October.
