Police Court./—On Wednesday a seaman named, George Cox was charged with not having fulfilled his engagement, having signed articles to serve on board the schooner Martha, but on the day of her sailing for Taranaki he was not forthcoming. The prisoner in his defence said he had never taken his tilings on board, neither had he received any advance. The conrfc senteoced him to one month's imprisonment, with hard labor. Elizabeth Abbott was sentenced to three month's imprisonment, through inability to fiud sureties to keep the peace towards her husband.
