TARANAKI.

(From the Soutkenn Cross, Feb. 1(5.) , The following proclamation has been issued by His Excellency the Governor, in.reference to the intertribal warfare at Taranaki.

PROCLAMATION. By His Excellency - Colonel Thomas Gore "Browne, Companion of the most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c, &c. Whereas conflicts between armed parties of Aboriginal Natives have recently taken place at New Plymouth, to the danger and alarm of Her Majesty's subjects who are engaged in tl^eir lawful occupations: Now, therefore, I, the Governor of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that all persons whosoever who shall unlawfully assemble with Arms within the boundaries of the District described in the Schedule to this Proclamation, will, without further notice, be treated as personsin Arms against the Queen's Authority, and active measures will be forthwith taken against them by Her Majesty's Civil Authorities and Military Forces.

Given under my hand, and issued "under the Public Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, at Government House, at Auckland, this twelfth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fiftyeight

In support, of this proclamation the whole military force of Auckland, of Wellington, and of Wangahui, are ordered to be in readiness for concentration upon the disturbed districts; but it is not thought, under the present aspect of affairs, that any movement of the troops will be actually required. By the HaioMs Bay Herald Extra, of Feb. 9th, we learn that the Eastfielrl, with troops from Auckland, arrived at Port Napier on the 7th, having made a good passage of five days. The detachment encamped on the Eastern Spit, and were preparing for a more lengthened bivouac in Onepoto Valley. 200 of the 65th Regiment were expected from Wellington.
