'Nothing can be done'
Nothing can be done to alleviate the loss of feeding grounds when Lake Taupo is at a low level, the conservator of wildlife at Rotorua, Mr P. J. Burstall, told sportsmen "However, we are not
taking a negative attitude," he told delegates at the Federation of Lake Taupo Angling, Shooting and Boating Clubs' conference. A remit before the conference asked the Internal Affairs Department to
expiain wnai aciitm was, contemplated to alleviate serious loss of feeding grounds. Mr Burstall said it was important ecologically that the lake level be at 1173.5 feet at the beginning of summer.
