Wine appeal dismissed
An appeal against a decision of the Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee to grant a wine reseller's licence to Redlock Holdings Ltd has been dismissed by the Licensing Control Commission of New Zealand. The appeal, lodged by Mr> A. Wong, was heard before Messrs R. D. Jamieson, SM, R. S. Austin and F. W. Pringle in Wellington. Mr Wong was among the four unsuccessful applicants for the licence — and the only one to appeal. Mr Parker, for the appellant, said the proposed premises of , Redlock Holdings Ltd was not situated in the central area of Taupo — the proper and best situation in the
committee's opinion. Mr Banks, representing Redlock Holdings, said Mr Wong's site was located about one and a half miles from the main shopping centre. He claimed this site was so located to serve mainly the surrounding urban population. The site held by Redlock Holdings was in a position to meet not only the requirements of Taupo residents shopping in the central area, but also those of visitors and travellers passirig through Taupo. In its decision, the committee conceded it had some reservations about Redlock Holdings' site, but found it to be "at least adequate iand suitable in all respects."
