Record number for champs

The Taupo Harrier Club will field its biggest representative team next Saturday when it competes in the Waikato championships at Matamata. Although Jack Foster, of Rotorua, is the favourite for the senior 12,000 metres event, Taupo' s four runners should be well up. They are Noel Bennett, Keith Scandlyn, John Sharp and Bruce McGregor. Taupo' s top A grade colt, Gary Dryden, has every chance to take the colts' title. Mark Howell and Kerry Hurren will also be chasing minor placings. Glenys Dryden and Barbara Voss have every chance in their 3000 metres event. Timothy Marshall heads the Taupo B colts' team and is expected to race well. Hard on his heels will be Edwin Post, Alan Attwood and Conway Fleming. Taupo has 33 runners entered in the various championship events. Transport will leave from the post office car park at 9.45 a.m.
