Members hear report

An aftemoon meeting was held by the Oruanui branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers recently to allow members to hear a report from Mrs J. Scarlett, the proyinclal president, on this year's Dominion con* ference in Nelson. Mrs Scarlett's pleasant and friendly manner enlivened her talk on the business transacted, and on the surroundings and social functions. She told the branch that the Dominion president, Mrs M. Bryant, had given the theme "I care" for women's divisiojtwork this year, to be appfied to the movement's ^ special interests. Mrs Scarlett was accompanied on her visit by Mrs M. Mazey, the provincial treasurer. At a short business ^ meeting held before the conference report, arrangements were made to help with the collection for this year's blind appeal, and also to hold a saies table at the next provincial meeting, to take place at Wairakei in August. Mrs N. Gloyn invited members to hold their next meeting, as a luncheon, at her home — with a speaker in the afternoon. Hostesses for July were Mesdames R. Baker and V. Steiner. The competitions were decided by vote as follows: Cut bloom and knltted j. article: Mrs B. Tipping. Shrub bloom: Mrs B. Matuschka. Vegetables: Mrs J. Power. •
