Date set for marina hearing

The Taupo Borough Council is to hear an application next week, to establish a marina at Two • Mile Bay — although it has an interest in one-sixth of the proposed site. The borough engineer, Mr W. K. Kiddle, said yesterday the council had already agreed to sell the land.

"The council has no choice but to hear the application," he said. • "The law is quite clear on who hears this sort of application. "Since there is no independent body in Taupo, the council must hear it." A number of objections to the proposed complex are to be raised at the hearing on Wednesday.
