Stableford win for Stebbing
F. Stebbing returned the best card of 41 points to win the B grade stableford event on the Taupo Golf Club's new course on Saturday. H. Thompson headed the A graders with 39 points. In the professional's stableford competition Stebbing (41) led G. L. McGregor 40 and Thompson 39. D. Hook, McGregor and R. Jones scored twos at the 6th hole on the new course, while A. Taylor birdied the 6th on the old course. Sunday's four-ball bestball stableford event was won by B. Peacock and E. H. Oliver, who aggregated 47 points on the old course. E. Pope, 42 points,
headed the professional's stableford competition, followed by E. Simmons 40, B. Draper and Peacock 39. R. B. Simons recorded a two at the 6th hole on the new course and there were three twos on the old course — from Mrs N. O'Connor 6th, Mrs R. Porter and Mrs M. Loughlin 16th. There are two bird's nest pools, of 50 and nine balls respectively.
