Frost no bar to field day
A heavy frost did not deter 47 people attending the field day of the Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society at Lake Rotopounamu on Sunday. The day took the form of a walk round the lake, with stops at intervals, during which the speaker, Mr Gerald Bennett, outlined the various types of flora found in the area. In addition the following
native birds were seen or heard; tui. fantail, bellbirds pigeon. whitehead, grey warbler, pied tit and New Zealand scaup (black teal). An indication of the upsurge of interest by , young people, was the attendance of six young families, including 19 children. The hostess was Mrs R. Otway and the leader Mr D. Price. >,
