High honour for toastmistress
The president of the Lake Taupo Toastmistress Club, Isa Gaffney, has been elected first vicechairman of council four,
one of seven councils of International Toastmistress Clubs throughout New Zealand. Members of council four are drawn from toastmistress clubs in Tauranga, Taupo, Whakatane districts and Tokoroa. Other successful candidates elected at the council meeting held recently in Rotorua are: — Chairman, Eileen Fox, Whakatane districts; second vice-chairman, Jean Lloyd, Tauranga; secretary, Diane Dean, Tokoroa; treasurer, Kathy Crossman, Tauranga. The new members of the executive take up their duties on August 1, the start of the fiscal year. Council meetings are held four times a year in Rotorua, giving members the opportunity to exchange ideas and conduct inter-club programmes. The Lake Taupo club will be the hostesses at the first meeting, to be held on August 18 at the Caravelle Hotel in Rotorua. « At the June meeting, a workshop on speech tech- , nique was conducted by Diane Dean. Mae Robson, of Tauranga, held an officer training workshop. Guests present were May Woodcock, of Hamilton, supervisor of the New Zealand region of International Toastmistress Clubs, Heather Nicoll, of Cambridge, chairman of council one, and Judy Millar, of Rotorua, editor of the NZ Toastmistress magazine.
