What price politics

Sir, I see by a recent edition of your paper that one of our worthy councillors thinks there is no place on the council for politics. If she is referring to party politics, I would agree — as these revert to nothing ' but personalities and are not constructive. I suggest, however, that the council, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Lions, the R.S.A. and any other organised groups of citizens are the ones who should be involved in politics. According to the Random House dictionary, politics are the art or science of political Government. I trust all our forthcoming candidates will be seeking election, not for self-esteem, but with genuine political motives.
