YHA hostel planned — but no date given

The Youth Hostel Association is considering Taupo as a site for a new project — but it will not receive a^ specific priority at the mc>. ent. In the association's annual report, it was suggested that no active promotion for the new hostel should be under-

taken — but if a suitable site did become available, without commitment, it may be acquired. The Turangi and Ruapehu areas are also being considered as sites for new hostels. But the national executive has reluctantly decided to close the hostel at

Motuoapa. The problems of retaining the hostel were considered too great and the building is shortly to be v returned to its owner. In the report, the executive expressed its gratitude to Mrs Collinson * for her generosity over many years.
