Farewell

A full cathedral in Napier is assured on Sunday night when over 2000 people will liturgically farewell Archbishop N. A. and Mrs Lesser. Norman Alfred Lesser Provost of Nairobi cathedral, was asked to be the Bishop of Waiapu in 1947. He was elected Primate of the Pro vince of New Zealand in 1961 by the other New Zealand bishops. He has been a true and inspiring father to his clergy and to the diocese an achievement made more creditable when realising the long, geographical sprawl of the diocese (from Tauranga to Woodville) and the mounting social changes of the area Throughout these years Mrs Lesser has stood by his side and shared the leadership in her own fine way. Presentations will be made to them both at a social function which follows the cathedral service.
