UNSAVOURY SMELL AT A.C. BATHS

The Taupo Borough Council was told last night of an unsavoury smell which is, on occasions, annoying visitors to the new A.C. Baths.

The baths manager Mr E. I. Weddell, said the smell was very sour and seemed to originate from the northerly direction when the breeze was from that quarter. Patrons had commented about the smell and

were apprehensive that it came from the pools he said. Attendances at the new complex had been very good and the comments of patrons on the facility were favourable, said Mr Weddell. From December 24 to January 1 1, 43,280 people attended, compared with 18,264 in the same period during the last summer holiday season. The highest daily attendance was 3440 recorded on January 3.
